Higher quality of noise reduction
More accurate processing in scenes with changing luminance or chrominance: fade in/out, camera auto gain control, etc.
"Very Low" and "Ultra Low" frequency ranges added to the set of frequency components that can be separately targeted by the spatial noise filter
"Dust and Scratches" filter to remove film scratches, film dust, impulse interference. Read more
"Slow Shutter" mode for video containing repeated frames
(clips shot in "slow shutter" or "night" mode, artificially increased frame rate, etc.). Read more
Improved sharpening quality: less halos, sharper edges

Several source frames accessible directly in plug-in window provide a choice of frame for initial profiling and fine-tuning
Overall noise levels of the current selection and of the whole current profile are displayed in "Device Noise Profile" panel (in Advanced Mode)
(quick evaluation of the noise level helps to find the most suitable area for analysis)
Better grouping of filter settings
Filter modules can be enabled/disabled individually to evaluate effect of each module on the overall result
Improved preview takes all temporal and spatial filters into account
This allows to adjust filters individually and in combination as well as to avoid roundtrips to host application for checking the final results
"Variants" of filtration to visually compare results achieved with different filter settings
Multi-step Undo/Redo for filter settings
New collection of filter presets with a detailed description of each preset including specification of key settings, purpose, applicability, recommendations for use and possible side effects
Estimation of processing speed and optimization of performance settings can now be done directly from "Filter Settings" panel.
This facilitates optimizing for a specific clip and filtration parameters
Options to set up the default noise profile and filter preset (in Neat Video Preferences)
Option for independent open/save folders for profiles and presets (in Neat Video Preferences)
Faster processing and more responsive GUI
Preview is optimized to update faster when filter settings are adjusted
"Skip Neat Video Processing" option to temporarily disable all instances of Neat Video filters to speed up editing in the host application.
Noise reduction is then not applied and the host application works significantly faster, which is especially useful in FCPX.
Neat Video processing can be globally re-enabled when necessary, for example right before the final render. It is also automatically re-enabled by a restart of the host application.
Multiple optimizations have allowed to preserve the speed of processing despite its greater complexity
(as compared with the older Neat Video 3)
Better support for systems with a large number of CPU cores (32 and above)
Mac OS X: Optimized for dual GPU systems (such as new MacPro's)
Significantly more efficient use of dual GPUs for large frame sizes (4k, 5k, 6k, 8k, etc.)
CUDA Compute Capability 5.0 is now supported on Mac OS too allowing Neat Video to take advantage of the latest NVIDIA GPUs
1. Due to changes in NVIDIA drivers and CUDA Toolkit, GPUs with Compute Capabilities 1.0 and 1.1 are no longer supported
2. Mac OS X: NVIDIA GPUs with CUDA Capability 5.0 are only supported in 64-bit applications due to a limitation of the CUDA driver (please refer to known issues)

provided by Neat Video is higher than that of all other methods because:
* Neat Video incorporates the most advanced noise reduction algorithms in the industry
Neat Video noise reduction algorithms were developed for digital imaging and digital video processing field by a highly-qualified professional research group. These algorithms surpass the quality of all classic noise reduction methods and even that of the wavelet-based methods. Although the wavelet-based methods were developed only 10-15 years ago and are still considered relatively modern, Neat Video uses an even newer and more efficient approach to noise reduction. This approach allows drawing a more clear distinction between noise and details in noisy video data. This helps Neat Video reduce more noise and better preserve true details in digital video sequences.
* Neat Video builds and uses device noise profiles to make noise reduction custom-tailored to video capturing device
A device noise profile is a reusable analysis of noise properties of a video capturing device (digital video camera, film digitizer, etc.) working in a certain mode. Using a noise profile for a video capturing device in effect makes noise reduction custom-tailored to this device. Neat Video can automatically build noise profiles by analyzing the input video data.

Works wonders on old TV shows, but it is slow. I used it a sample clip of a 60s soap opera and out various programs it gave me the best result.
Granted it took nearly 10 hours (2 passes) It played very smooth and clear

On my simple Core2Duo with 2 GB it works with Virtualdub at about 4 FPS (so it takes app. 6 times the len of the film to render it).
The quality after some tests is excellent, much better then for example the denoiser in Magix Video deluxe or the virtual dub one. NEAT seems to know the job from their famous photo version.
You must be careful in combining the filter with others in the same run, a combination with the contrast/saturation filter gives me a blue video.
If I find out how to let Virtual dub directly produce MPG?s I will buy the full version.
(Not a problem of NEAT, of course)

I use the Virtualdub version.
It is slow as hell. Even on an iCore7.
And you need to test a lot to find out how it works.
But it's the best filter you can have for video noise. Analogue, Digital, name it. A must have.
