Responsibilities:
Strengthen and motivate our network of local partners in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor to address stormwater impacts to ravines and Lake Michigan. The Trust seeks 2-3 summer interns to contribute to our continued success in 2015. Organization description: IUCN’s Global Gender Office enjoys worldwide recognition for the extensive work it has carried out over the past 12 years addressing gender equality issues within the environmental sector.
Experience includes the development of sector-specific gender tools, gender-mainstreaming efforts with a variety of global forums including the CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity), UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme), CSD (United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development), CSW (Commission on the Status of Women) and World Water Forum, along with the establishment of gender entities in environmental ministries throughout Central America. IUCN has provided support to UNEP and the CBD to develop gender action plans.
In the past five years, the IUCN Global Senior Gender Adviser has been conducting a series of activities to ensure that gender considerations are fully integrated in climate change and biodiversity policies. Part of her work has been the creation and consolidation of the GGCA (Global Gender and Climate Alliance), training to delegates from all around the world to the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), building capacity at the governmental and nongovernmental institutions together with the development of various manuals as well as articles dealing with the topic.

Description: Kestrel Land Trust is an ambitious, nationally accredited land trust serving the heart of the Connecticut River Valley in western Massachusetts. Kestrel is seeking a Land Conservation Specialist to play a leading role in permanently conserving woodlands, farmland, and wildlands in a 19-town region surrounding Amherst, Northampton, and Holyoke. This is a great opportunity for an experienced land conservation professional to join a growing staff of five to increase the pace of land conservation in our region. The Land Conservation Specialist is responsible for managing and completing land conservation projects under the supervision of the Executive Director and in collaboration with Kestrel’s attorney, Stewardship Manager, Development Director, and Outreach Specialist. Projects will be prioritized and approved by Kestrel’s Lands Committee to fulfill the organization’s strategic conservation goals. This position has the potential to become a senior level position as the organization grows.
Responsibilities:
Land Conservation Deals o Identify and evaluate potential land conservation projects, including through field assessments. o Provide landowners with guidance and information about conservation options, including Conservation Restrictions (CRs), Agricultural Preservation Restrictions (APRs), fee sales, and charitable donations of land or interests in land. o Negotiate donations and bargain sales to facilitate conservation projects. o Collaborate closely with partners at municipal, state, and federal agencies as each project requires. o Draft conservation restrictions, cost-sharing and reimbursement agreements, option agreements, right of first refusal agreements, and other legal real estate contracts in consultation with Kestrel’s attorney. o Manage project budgets according to Kestrel standards and protocols, covering all projects costs, including the purchase price, due diligence expenses, stewardship funds, and staff time. o Prepare and implement fundraising strategies for conservation projects, including writing grant applications and fundraising appeals in collaboration with the Development Director. o Arrange for due diligence on all projects, including appraisals, site assessments, natural resource inventory and baseline information, and soil analysis as needed. o Prepare resource maps using ArcGIS 10.x in support of land protection projects. o Prepare conservation reports, budgets, and presentations for Kestrel’s Lands Committee and Board of Trustees. o Recruit and train interns from the 5-College Area to support land conservation and planning work.

The Center for EcoTechnology is seeking six qualified college graduate candidates for a one-year paid fellowship position to work with our staff and other EcoFellows to carry out community outreach, school education and other activities related to climate action initiatives and educational programming in western Massachusetts. Activities will support the CET’s initiatives to assist residents, students, institutions and businesses across the region in ongoing programs in energy efficiency, home energy services, renewable energy, and waste reduction through recycling, reuse and home composting. The Fellowship offers a full orientation and week-long training by CET professionals in subjects related to above programs, as well as professional development exploring a variety of environmental topics throughout the fellowship. Fellows will be based in CET’s Northampton office.
Responsibilities:
Implement the Go Green Campaign – encouraging residents to take practical steps in home energy efficiency and personal behaviors choices towards a sustainable future.
Work with office staff on the documentation of home energy assessments, reviewing contracts, and supporting customer service to optimize our field and office efforts.
Assist field staff in home energy assessments, reviewing residential homes for potential energy efficiency measures and assist homeowners in behavior changes to improve their efficiency savings. Support field staff in communicating the program’s energy savings, financial implication and return-on-investment.
Assist field staff in performing home energy ratings of newly constructed homes, including field visits to the homes to inspect energy efficiency measures and assisting builders who seek to build more energy efficient buildings.
Support the CET Green Team, and work on Greening CET through energy and waste reduction programs.
Monitor progress for the CET Mission Impact Report and energy efficiency campaigns to reduce use.
Additional customer service support tasks assigned as required.
Qualifications:
o We are looking for creative and energetic college graduates (bachelor degree required) with an interest in education and outreach along with a familiarity with issues related to energy efficiency, renewable energy technologies, climate change, recycling and resource conservation. Previous experience through volunteering, internships and/or professional work is required.
o Commitment to the entire Fellowship program, from August 10, 2015 to June 30, 2016, is required.
o Fellows work a flexible schedule (40 hrs/week) that requires some evening and weekend hours as needed.
o Computer skills required, experience in creative uses of social media and/or graphic design preferred.
o Driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation is required.
o Ability to lift and move 50# will be required as necessary for certain placements.
