Indonesia South Kalimantan 2X65 MW Coal-fired Power Plant Succeeds in Grid-Connected Power Generation

#1 Unit of Indonesia South Kalimantan Asam-Asam 2X65 MW Coal-fired Power Plant Project which was a turn-key contract undertaken by Chengda and Indonesia PT WIJAYA KARYA (PERSERO) Tbk. as a consortium successfully underwent grid-connected power generation, initially fired by oil at 11:34 March 24th, 2012. Up to now each system of the plant has been under stable operation with good performance figures.&&
Kalimantan Island, as the third biggest island of the world, is seriously short of electric power. The Asam-Asam 2x65 MW power plant project has been the biggest power plant project at Kalimantan Island of Indonesia since 1999. This project was signed as a turn-key contract by Chengda-WIKA consortium and Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) in July 2008. In June 2009, the construction work started. Through more than two years of common efforts of all brother companies of both China and Indonesia as well as all the team members of the project, the initial oil-fired grid-connected power generation was made on schedule by overcoming various difficulties like materials and technicians shortage.
This project is the biggest one that has succeeded in oil-fired grid integration among the 10000MW lump-sum power projects in outer island of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), and the second successful project among the 22 outer island power projects of PLN which have been started for construction since 2008. Also it is the first overseas turn-key power plant project undertaken by Chengda as a consortium.
Going forward, the project team will closely cooperate with relevant companies so as to complete the subsequent work in good quality.
