CYou can’t always predict a heavy rain or remember your umbrella. But designer Mikhail Belvacv doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. That’s why he created lampbrella, a lamp post with its own rain sensing umbrella. The designer says he come up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia. “once, I was driving on a central Saint Petersburg street ad saw the street lamps lighting up people trying to hide from the rain. I thought it would be appropriate to have a canopy(伞蓬)built into a street lamp.” he said. The lampbrella is a standard-looking street lamp fitted with an umbrella canopy. It has a built-in electric motor which can open or close the umbrella on demand. Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining. In addition to the rain sensor, there’s also a 360°motion sensor on& the biberglass street lamp which detects whether anyone’s using the lampbrella. After three minutes of not being used the canopy is closed. According to the designer, the lampbrella would move at a relatively low speed, so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians. Besides, it would be grounded to protect from possible lighting strike. Each lampbrella would offer enough shelter for several people. Being installed at 2 meters off the ground, it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians. While there are no plans to take lampbrella into production, Belyacv says he recently introduced his creation one Moscow Department, and insists this creation could be installed on my street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter. 66. For what purpose did Belyacv create the lampbrella?A. To predict a heavy rain &B. To check the weather forecast C. To protect people from the rain &D. To remind people to take an umbrella 67. What do we know from Belyacv’s worlds in Paragraph2?A. His creation was inspired by an experience B. it rains a lot in the city of Saint PetersburgC. Street lamps are protected by canopiesD. He enjoyed taking walks in the rain68. Which of the following show how the lampbrella works?A. motor→canopy→sensors &B. Sensors→motor→canopy C. motor→sensors→canopy&D. canopy→motor→sensors69. What does paragraph 5 mainly tell us about the lampbrella?A. Its moving speed &B. Its appearance C. Its installation &D. Its safety 70. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?A. The designer will open a company to promote his productB. The lampbrella could be put into immediate production C. The designer is confident that his creation is practicalD. The lampbrella would be put on show in Moscow 【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文,题材是路灯雨伞的发明。 1)&Umbrella, forgetting, getting wet. (Para. 5)&no plans, production, insists, to provide shelter.&未来展望:虽然没有计划投入生产,坚信投入效果。C。 根据第一段的forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet 以及后句的That’s why… 67. A。 The designer says he came up with the idea after watching people get wet on streets in Russia可见设计者是根据自己的经验有了想法,故A项正确。 根据选项定位第三段的第二行和第三行的electric motor…Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella可知答案。 但不符合题干how the Lampbraela works?69. D。 根据第五段中cause harm to the pedestrian,to protected from possible lighting strike,at 2 meters off the ground, only be a danger for the tallest pedestrians。 故D项Its safety正确。 根据题干要求,最后一段中introduced his creation to,insists his creation could be installed 都说明设计者觉得此项设计可操作,实用。 1. But designer Mikhail Belyaec doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. 分析:本句的主干是But designer Mikhail Belyaec doesn’t think引导宾语从句,其从句中的主语中有非谓语heading out。2.Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining. Sensors(传感器)then ensure。 3.While there are no plans to take the Lampbrella into production, Belyaev says he recently introduced his creation to one Moscow Department , and insists his creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter.

Sensors(传感器)then ensure that the umbrella offers pedestrians shelter whenever it starts raining.” 根据本段“…so as not to cause harm to the pedestrians”“… to protect from possible lighting strike”“ Being installed at 2 meters off the ground, it would only be a danger for the tallest of pedestrians”可以得知,这是lampbrella的人性化设计,为避雨的行人在安全方面的作了充分考虑。故选D。4. 根据“there are no plans to take lampbrella into production”,可知lampbrella还不会投入生产,可排除AB选项;根据“he recently introduced his creation one Moscow Department”可排除D项;根据“insists this creation could be installed on any street where a lot of people walk but there are no canopies to provide shelter”可知Belyacv对他设计的lampbrella的实用性充满自信。

I hated dinner parties. But I decided to give them another shot because I’m in London. And my friend Mallery invited me. And because dinner parties in London are very different from those back in New York. There, “I’m having a dinner party” means “I’m booking a table for 12 at a restaurant you can’t afford and we’ll be sharing the cheque evenly, no matter what you eat.”Worse, in Manhattan there is always someone who leaves before the bill arrives. They’ll throw down cash, half of what they owe, and then people like me, who don’t drink, end up paying even more. But if I try to use the same trick, the hostess will shout “Where are you going?” And it’s not like I can say I have somewhere to go : everyone knows I have nowhere to go.But in London, dinner parties are in people’s homes. Not only that, the guests are an interesting mix. The last time I went to one, the guests were from France, India, Denmark and N it was like a gathering at the United Nations. In New York, the mix is less striking. It’s like a gathering at Bloomingdale’s, a well-known department store. For New Yorkers, talking about other parts of the world means Brooklyn and Queens in New York. But at Mallery’s, when I said that I had been to Myanmar recently, people knew where it was. In New York people would think it was a usual new club.【小题1】What does the word “shot” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?A.Choice.B.Try.C.Style. A.Easygoing.. B.Self-centred.C.Generous.D.Conservative.【小题5】What is the main idea of this article?A.The author hated dinner parties.B.The author prefer dinner parties in London to those in New York.C.The difference between London and New York.D.Mallery invited the author to a party.

In the US, people prefer waiting for a table to sitting with people they don’t know. If you are sitting at a table with people you don’t know, it is impolite to light up a cigarette without first asking if it will disturb them.At American restaurants and coffee shops you are usually served tap water(自来水) before you order. You may find the bread and butter is free, and if you order coffee, you may get a free refill. Most cities and towns have no rules about opening and closing times for stores or restaurants, though they usually do make rules for bars. Especially in large cities, stores may be open 24 hours a day.Servings in restaurants are often large, too large for many people. If you can’t finish your meal but would like to enjoy the food later, ask your waitress or waiter for a “doggie bag”. It may have a picture of a dog on it, but everybody knows you’re taking the food for yourself. Supper and dinner are both words for the evening meal. Some people have “Sunday dinner”. This is an especially big noon meal.Tips are not usually added to the check. They are not included in the price of the meal, either. With the rapid progress of technology, the English language is changing fast. All the people have to face a choice: either ignore the development of the language and spend the rest of our lives wishing Shakespeare were alive, or keep pace with the Internet age, welcoming the new English which someone has once called Weblish. “you can’t avoid it for the simple reason that wherever a new language comes along, it surely impacts (影响) the language as a whole,” says Dr David Crystal, a famous language professor at the University of Wales. However, there is great trouble with keeping up with the new English because there are so many new words and the old ones no longer mean what we thought they did. In the past if someone said they didn’t have “Windows”, you would have to suppose they lived in a cave without windows. But now, it is probably because they use a Mac, which is a computer. Spam, which once meant a not-so-good-kind of canned meat, now stands for unwanted “junk (垃圾)” email.Spelling is changing too. Weblish loves to see nouns happily become verbs ( for example, “Please bookmark this site”), and verbs become nouns (“Send me the download”).Verbs and prepositions are regularly thrown together to become new nouns or adjectives(for example, dial-up, logon, print-out, pull-down, upload), while others are created from a simple pairing of nouns: cyberspace, ethernet, Internet, hyperlink, metatag and netspeak.【小题1】 We can infer from the first paragraph that _____ .A.English has completely become WeblishB.some people wish Shakespeare were still aliveC.people may have different attitudes towards WeblishD.people who know English have to learn a new language【小题2】 What is the main idea of the second paragraph?A.Now English has many new words.B.English words have changed a lot.C.Old English words are no longer used at all.D.People have difficulty in understanding some new words related to computers and the Internet.【小题3】 The best title for this passage would be “_____”.A.Technology and EnglishB.Keep Up with the Latest WeblishC.Don’t Forget EnglishD.The Advantage and Disadvantages of Weblish英语翻译(1)You can’t always predict a heavy rain or remember your umbrella. But designer Mikhail Belyaev doesn’t think that forgetting to check the weather forecast before heading out should result in you getting wet. That’s why he create_作业帮
