J．R．R．托尔金的代表作《魔戒》业已在英美学术界赢得了极高的
声望，被公推为欧美文学界方兴未艾的奇幻文学发展的里程碑。基于
文本细读和批评回顾，本文作者发现《魔戒》的叙事模式源自于圣经。
故此，本文拟运用加拿大批评家诺思洛普?弗莱提出的圣经叙事理论
一圣经U型叙事理论一探究托尔金在《魔戒》中对圣经叙事模式的
摹仿与借鉴。
本文首先阐释弗莱基于其对圣经叙事结构的研究而提出的U型
叙事理论：圣经叙事主要遵循U型模式，但同时也体现了对U型模
式的魔怪式摹仿―倒U性模式，并论及托尔金本人叙事理论一乐灾
与U型叙事模式的契合，从而更合理地论证托尔金对圣经叙事模式
的摹仿。随后本文着重探析了《魔戒》对圣经U型叙事模式的摹仿，
认为这种摹仿主要体现在托尔金对《魔戒》情节的精心安排上。托尔
金对小说中三个关键人物 佛罗多、亚拉贡和甘道夫 的命运起伏，
以及与此三人密切联系的三个地域 夏尔、刚铎和艾辛格 的荣辱兴
衰的描写都遵循了圣经的U型叙事模式：始于幸福安宁，继而遭受
灾难，但都终享福祉。再次，本文论证了《魔戒》对圣经中次要叙事
模式一倒U型模式的摹仿。该作品中的邪恶力量的典型一魔戒、索
伦和魔多的兴衰消亡无一例外地呈现出倒U型模式：起于隐匿，然
