What the heck’s with Francis Beckwith?
Ah, the importance of presuppositions.
With that I should first disclose my own. While I have this restraint that I am supposed to conduct myself with charity, it is a restraint for me most of the time. My internal tension comes from my deep seated belief that the ridiculous should get but one thing: Ridicule. So Justice should be tempered with M Ridicule should be tempered . . . sometimes. No sense being a fanatic about it.
But since he’s a fellow convert from the denizens of protestantism to the One, Catholic, Holy, and Apostolic Church and a Pro life stalwart, I summon all the contents of the shallow, tepid well of my charity in his favor.
Second, I have a deep-seated suspicion of anyone who uses the first name of Francis which I acquired circa March, 2013. I shall exempt Professor Beckwith from suspicion since his use of the name was a) presumably imposed on him by his parents, rather than selected by and, b) his use of the otherwise venerable name predates my relatively recent acquisition of the previously mentioned suspicion.
I should also note that I have acquired an even more recent predilection to consider anyone name “Andy” a heretic. .
Now to the point.
Professor Beckwith maintains a position that “” He does this without a scintilla (I love that word, scintilla) of evidence – in either history or in Scripture. He does rely on references to statements made in a Church document. But first, the presupposition.
Professor Beckwith presupposes – that is, takes as a fact without inquiry – that Islam is a religion at all. I submit, that it is not. It is instead a political system. Not just any political system but one founded by a pedophile. A political system that encourages sexual perversion of every variety, both speakable and unspeakable. (Hint: think sodomy, necrophilia, incest, bestiality.)
It is a political system that, like so-called Liberation Theology, wraps itself in some religious-sounding terminology. Kinda like abortophile, Christ-hating, America-hating Barack Obama saying “God Bless America”, doesn’t make America a Christian nation.
You want another analogy! Great, I gotta whole file-cabinet full of them: the U.S. Supreme Court calling one dude sticking his stuff into the poop chute of another “marriage” doesn’t make it so. OK. I just crossed a line.
But Professor Beckwith’s erroneous presupposition has consequences, as all presuppositions do. One of those consequences is that one can not effectively deal with an enemy if one doesn’t even acknowledge the enemy exists. This is true in the
as well as the theological/ecclesiastical one on which Professor Beckwith opines.
If either Professor Beckwith’s presupposition or his conclusion are accurate, is it wrong for me to offer my daily prayers (which I do) for the eradication of Islam from the face of the Earth? If they worship the same God, should I not at the very least view them as separated brethren? I mean, who’s next? Lutherans!
Because his presupposition (Islam is a religion) is improvidently held, his conclusion (they worship the true God) is wrong.
One Scintilla por favor
Professor Beckwith is an academic with some legal training.
Some basics there are examining evidence and drawing inferences and conclusions from that evidence. Never mind all that. “They worship the same God.”
Two words. First one: bull.
Islam is a murderous regime. Always have been. Who (or what) has been behind the murder of several thousand US citizens on US soil over the last two decades? What group has beheaded and otherwise barbarically executed Christians (and others) around the world? What group has specifically targeted the Catholic Church for attack and destruction? OK, that last one includes Presbyterians, but you get my point.
But what about the “peaceful Muslims”? Inconsistent. Irrelevant.
Inconsistent with their own political system which promises paradise for those who die while killing infidels. (Note to Professor Beckwith: that includes you and me, brother.) Irrelevant because by definition they don’t matter. Peaceful Germans didn’ they were irrelevant. Nice Japanese didn’t stop the barbarities of the E they, too, were irrelevant. There have been, throughout history, lots of bad things done in the name of God and of religion. But what other “religion” has as one of its core tenets the murder of other faiths?
Going back a few years, C.S. Lewis posited a trichotomy. Jesus could not have been just a good man. He couldn’t have been just a prophet (as Islamists assert). Jesus Christ was one of three things: He was either a) b) or, c) He is Lord. Theologically, Islam is in la-la land. Or, as the used to call it, hell.
And before C.S. Lewis there are the creeds. We could look at them all, but just a glance at the Apostles and Nicene make the good Professor’s conclusions just a wee bit on the ridiculous side. No?
Then there’s the nagging little thing . . . what’s it called again. Oh yeah, I know: Holy Scripture. And just because Professor Beckwith has repudiated the notion of Sola Scriptura (as have I) doesn’t mean that Nolo Scriptura is the only alternative. Not coincidentally, many of the Scripture readings in the Church this month come from the epistle of I John. Some wonderful little nuggets of evidence found therein include:
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.(2:22-23)
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard and even now already is it in the world. (4:3-4)
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. . . . He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God
because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. (5:1, 10)
And, from the Gospel of John (4:24), “God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” So a two-member Trinity doesn’t exist. Neither does a four-sided triangle. Islam is a political system built on lawlessness and lies. They don’t worship God in “spirit and in truth.”
Or in any other way for that matter.

CC: Mike Flynn, National Security Advisor Designate
President Elect Trump has stated that he’s scaling way back on the inaugural festivities.
Good for him.
But we, as a nation, still love to celebrate.
So after he undoes a few thousand of his departed predecessor’s executive orders, he ought to put a wee little exclamation point on the end of the inaugural day.
First, we divert some of the seized ISIS money to pay for the biggest drone that can be made.
Second, we fly that bad boy into Mecca (with a couple of extra, full fuel tanks on board or the optional nuclear payload).
Third, we do a little pinpoint landing in the middle to town as pictured below:
Fourth, we send a Tweet to @ISIS with something like “Screw with us any more and we’re going to get serious.”

Pope Andy has spoken.
So glad we have him to tell us what we have to and don’t have to believe. Meet the author of Selective Scripture: My life on the theological cafeteria plan.
December has apparently proven to be an interesting month for the Rev. Andy Stanley, son of a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and lead pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta — one of the largest congregations in the country.
Though it is only now breaking in to the open, the Baptist world has been rocked byin which the son of famed TV evangelist Charles Stanley discounted the importance of believing in the virgin birth of Jesus.
The rest of the pathetic piece .
He’s too smart to call a moron. Wait. I know. Heretic.
Words mean things.
The implications of his statements are far-reaching:
he renders all the prophets false.
Pope Andy should remember that false prophets were stoned.
He might have been stoned when he spewed this heresy, but that’s a different post.
In fact, that is probably the most charitable assumption that could be made in Pope Andy’s favor.
He dismisses two thousand years of Church history.
But he answers to no man, so screw history.
You may recall the early Creeds that were a summary of the necessary beliefs to be considered a Christian.
Right in there is “born of a virgin.”
C.S. Lewis once presented a trichotomy:
“Jesus could not just be a good man.
He was either a liar, a lunatic, or [exactly who he said he was] Lord.”
Pope Andy makes Christ one of the first two.
Yesterday, January 1st, was the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God.
Pope Andy makes the Mother of God, just mom.
Her humility, her obedience, her example: no big whoop to Pope Andy.
Since he makes our Lord, just an ordinary guy, Pope Andy has more in common with the pseudo religion of Islam than he does with Christianity.
Islam i Pope Andy is a multi-millionaire charlatan.
It may be 2017, but I’m kinda missing 1017, when heretics were more . . . expeditiously dealt with.

Hilarious.
And well done.

Especially considering the patient was just a blob of tissue.
According to:
A first-of-its-kind surgery at UC Davis Children’s Hospital had a happy ending just in time for the holidays.
Doctors are celebrating a successful fetal surgery on a baby boy while he was still growing inside the womb.
Bobby Angeles and Khae Saetern named their little boy Matthew, which means “a gift from God.” It’s a fitting name when you consider the loss they’ve experienced and the loss they almost faced.
In the last three years, they’ve dealt with infertility, miscarriages, a baby girl who was stillborn. Then their unborn son had a serious condition that threatened his life. “Every moment, I am thinking when I’m driving, ‘Please God. Just take care of my son. Please God,’” Angeles said.
Matthew Tobias Saetern-Angeles was not expected to make it. But now two months later, he’s sporting a hearty head of hair and sleeping like a champ. “We just wanted to scream down the hallways, we’re going home! we’re going home! In the car, we took a picture of each other with the baby. We’re on our way home, this is really happening,” Angeles said.
While still developing in the womb, Matthew was diagnosed with hydrops, which creates excess fluid in the chest. The options for the soon-to-be-born baby boy seemed to be beyond the scope of modern medicine.
That’s when doctors at UC Davis Children’s Hospital stepped in with a suggestion that was both high risk and high reward.
“Everything happened so fast, so you really don’t have time to digest everything,” Saetern said. “We had our concerns and we had our questions, but ultimately, we left it to the doctor to decide what was in the best interest of the baby and my health.”
At 32 weeks, doctors made a small incision in Saetern’s stomach and used a catheter to drain the fluid from Matthew’s chest, completing the hospital’s first successful fetal surgery.
“Without that procedure, who knows where we’d be right now?” Angeles said.
The couple says the best part of bringing Matthew home is being able to put him in his crib. They’ve had a nursery decorated and ready to go for quite a few years and now they can finally use it.
In case we needed it, this medical breakthrough reminds us that the recently passed law in Ohio that prohibits abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected is long, long overdue.
And I can’t wait to hear how , gets all intellectual sounding (you know, cuz we need to be able to measure brain waves and little non-science stuff like heartbeats shouldn’t be the basis.) Idiot.
Abortophile.
Buy, hey Chrissy, if we require brain waves, who’s going to fill your slot on the news?

It helps when they are cowardly liars in the first place.
A small retinue of celebrities made some promises, others just silly.
If Donald Trump wins the White House (which was a preposterous thought, said they) they would move to Canada.
It kinda made me wonder which side they were on.
I mean, it was like a buy one, get one free deal.
Get the Dems out of the White House and get a few morons out of the country!
One such bloviator, I should have pursued before the election: Barry Diller.
The media billionaire promised to “move out of the country or join the resistance.”
He went on to say that he “would take any bet” that he would have to do neither.
Man, I wish I had bet him a few million bucks.
Ironically, his bashing of Trump was that he (like Diller himself) was nothing more than a media figure.
Having lost the bet and having decided to neither move nor resist, Diller sings a
Diller said it appears the president-elect will bring about “almost undiluted change.”
One of the changes the United States will see is that Trump “is a better negotiator than someone who has trained in government,” Diller said. He added that he’s hopeful that Trump will actually be “really good across the table” and not “manhandle people” or “do one-off things that just sound good.”
As Trump pressures companies to keep jobs in America while threatening to slap them with tariffs for moving jobs, Diller said he has a feeling he won’t be getting one of those calls. When asked about his opinions on Trump’s recent dealings with
and , Diller said that “it’s interesting stuff” and that “it’s never happened before.”
I could go on and on as to why, but I think Diller is nothing short of being a hypocrite (do you think he got to be a billionaire by not manhandling people?) and a weenie.
Let’s see, the election was about a month ago.
Let’s do a little look back shall we?
Russia has said that like to be our friends now, Jeff Sessions is named Attorney General, Mattis is going to be Secretary of Defense, Carrier has decided to stay in the US, and .
I won’t say that’s impressive, but I haven’t had a month like that in, like, ever.
And Trump’s not even President yet.
Pardon me if I seem a little hopeful.
If Trump keeps this up, he’ll keep making converts.
Heck, even the weenies are signing on.
