　　SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Loyal SC announced today it will forfeit the point it received from its 1-1 tie with LA Galaxy II because of a racial slur directed at a Black SD Loyal player.LA Galaxy II defender Omar Ontiveros used the slur in the 71st minute of Wednesday's 1-1 tie at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, according to USL Championship, which suspended Ontiveros Friday for six games.Multiple officials, LA Galaxy II coaching staff and players were in the area, several of whom later acknowledged hearing the exchange, according to SD Loyal.Ontiveros was not disciplined by LA Galaxy II coaching staff or referees. SD Loyal coaching staff did not hear about the incident until the game was over.None of the facts in the investigation of the incident were disputed by any of the involved parties, according to the league.SD Loyal players believe they should have walked off the field to protest the lack of discipline, according to the team. ``We don't even want to recognize being a part of a match where these types of actions take place,'' said SD Loyal Chairman Andrew Vassiliadis. ``The Loyal in our name is symbolic of the diversity in our community and as a club we will not stand for this.''SD Loyal's statement did not include the name of the player the slur was directed, but did say the Galaxy scored the tying goal after he was sent off for a second yellow card.Midfielder Elijah Martin was the only SD Loyal player to receive two yellow cards Wednesday.With SD Loyal shorthanded because of Martin's ejection -- a team may not replace an ejected player -- Alejandro Alvarado Jr. scored the tying goal one minute into stoppage time.Forfeiting the point from the tie could jeopardize SD Loyal's chances of reaching the playoffs in the Division II men's soccer league. The top two teams in each of the league's eight groups qualify for the playoffs.The tie gave SD Loyal 23 points on a 6-4-5 record, one more than Galaxy II (7-5-1) and two ahead of Orange County SC (6-4-3) in the race for second place in Group B.SD Loyal has one game remaining the regular season, Galaxy II and Orange County SC three each.Ontiveros received a red card in the eighth minute of stoppage time, resulting in an automatic one-game suspension. 　　SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County's Air Pollution Control District selected projects from 49 organizations Wednesday to receive .3 million in grants for projects designed to keep 692 tons of greenhouse gas and pollution out of the skies.The grants, part of the county's Clean Air for All campaign, will reimburse the selected businesses, local governments, schools and utilities for swapping out high-polluting, heavy-duty equipment for low-polluting or zero- polluting vehicles, boats and machinery.The district has notified all the organizations that their projects have been selected to receive the grants funded by California's Air Resources Board and Department of Motor Vehicles.All the organizations must sign contracts to start their projects; seven of the projects must still receive final approval from the California Air Resources Board. The organizations are reimbursed once their projects are completed.District officials estimate that if all 138 selected projects are completed they would improve local air quality over their lifetime by preventing the emission of 562.5 tons of nitrogen engine emissions, 103.5 tons of reactive organic gases that affect ozone production and 26.1 tons of diesel particulate matter -- small particles of carbon like soot. All told, the weight is roughly equal to six space shuttles.The majority of the grant money, roughly .3 million, is targeted to help the county's portside environmental justice neighborhood communities and projects from other state-designated disadvantaged communities. Those include the portside communities of Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, Sherman Heights and western National City as well as El Cajon and San Ysidro.The state Air Resources Board selected those portside neighborhoods as part of its Community Air Protection Program. That program provides special funding for neighborhoods that are disproportionately harmed by air pollution because they're near ports, shipping, freeways, rail yards, freight, warehouses and industries. 　　SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The body of a 14-year-old boy was found near railroad tracks by a maintenance crew in the Bay Ho neighborhood, sheriff's officials said.At about 2:50 a.m. Saturday, the crew discovered someone who appeared to be struck by a train in the area of 6000 Santa Fe St., according to Lt. Thomas Seiver of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department homicide unit.After an investigation at the scene by the sheriff's Railroad Enforcement Team, the homicide unit took over the case, Seiver said.The boy has been identified and his next of kin notified, but his name is being withheld because it may jeopardize the investigation, the lieutenant said.The county Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of the boy's death, Seiver said.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff's homicide unit at 858-285-6330 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 929
　　SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Prior to today's San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl, the Port of San Diego will host the annual Solar Turbines 5K run/walk and the Holiday Bowl Parade along Harbor Drive.The Port will host the 24th annual Solar Turbines 5K run and walk at 9:45 a.m. and the parade at 10 a.m. Participants in the 5K will run and walk from the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash Street to Ruocco Park. The parade will begin in front of the County Administration Building and process south down Harbor Drive to its intersection with Pacific Highway.According to Port officials, the parade will include 29 giant balloons, 10 marching bands and multiple floats and drill teams. The marching bands from Northwestern University and the University of Utah, the two teams playing in the Holiday Bowl, will perform during the parade."The Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade is one of the Port's signature events, bringing approximately 100,000 spectators, including many from out of state, to the beautiful San Diego bayfront," said Board of Port Commissioners Chairman Rafael Castellanos.
