Longevity Hill Longevity Hill (Chinese: 万寿山) is a 60-meter-high hill in the gardens of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China. Together with Kunming Lake, it shapes the basic layout of the imperial garden's landscape. 近水的:History When the Jin Dynasty emperor Wányán Liàng moved his capital to the Beijing area, he had a Gold Mountain Palace built on the site of present-day Longevity Hill. In the Yuan Dynasty, the hill was renamed from Gold Mountain to Jug(壶) Hill (Weng Shan). This name change is explained by a legend according to which a jar with a treasure inside was once found on the hill. The loss of the jar is said to have coincided with the fall of the Ming Dynasty as had been predicted by its finder. The Qianlong Emperor, who commissioned work on the imperial gardens to which it belongs in 1749, gave Longevity Hill its present-day name in celebration of his mother's 60th birthday. Buildings On its southern slope, Longevity Hill is adorned with(用…装饰) an ensemble of grand buildings: The Cloud-Dispelling Hall, the Temple of Buddhist Virtue, and the Sea of Wisdom Temple form a south-north (lakeside - peak) oriented axis which is flanked by various other buildings. In the center of the Temple of Buddhist Virtue stands the Tower of Buddhist Incense (Fo Xiang Ge), which forms the focal point for the buildings on the southern slope of Longevity Hill. The tower is built on a 20-meter-tall stone base, is 41 meters high with three storeys and supported by eight ironwood (lignumvitae,硬木;长寿树) pillars. Schoolboy or DMini Mao‖? Barbeque Barbecue is a method and apparatus(设备) for cooking meat with the heat and hot smoke of a fire, smoking wood, or hot coals of charcoal, cooking gas or even electricity. It may include application of spice rub or basting sauce to the meat or vegetables. Barbecue is usually done in an outdoor environment by cooking and smoking the meat over wood or charcoal(木炭). Restaurant barbecue may be cooked in large brick or metal ovens specially designed for that purpose. Barbecue has numerous regional variations in many parts of the world. The device used for cooking at a barbecue is commonly referred to as a &barbecue&, &barbecue grill&, or &grill&. In British usage, barbecuing and grilling refer to a fast cooking process directly over high heat, while grilling also refers to cooking under a source of direct, high heat―known in the U.S. and Canada as broiling. In US English usage, however, grilling refers to a fast process over high heat, while barbecuing refers to a slow process using indirect heat and/or hot smoke (very similar to some forms of roasting). For example, in a typical U.S. home grill, food is cooked on a grate(格栅) directly over hot charcoal, while in a U.S. barbecue, the coals are dispersed to the sides or at significant distance from the grate. Motorhome A motorhome comprises of sleeping accommodation for between 2 and 8 people. Each sleepingplace is called a berth(卧铺). Each berth is either fixed or converts from another part of the motorhome's interior. A kitchenette area will contain cooking equipment. The type of equipment included differs depending on the motorhome make and model, but generally a kitchenette has an oven, grill, hob(铁架) and sink. More luxury models may also provide a microwave. A separate washroom will be housed in the motorhome. Each washroom will have a flushing cassette toilet, shower and basin. The cassette toilet sometimes swivels(旋转) to provide extra room and can be accessed from outside the motorhome for easy emptying. More recent motorhomes will have a separate shower cubicle(淋浴隔间). A motorhome will also have a cab area with a driver and passenger seat. These seats often swivel to become part of the living space. A dinette area provides a table and seating space typically used for eating meals. A lounge may also be included, consisting of either a u-shaped sofa located in the rear of(在…后部) the motorhome or a side lounge. The word motorhome is commonly used in the UK. On occasion, other synonyms are used, such as motor home and motor caravan. In Germany, a motorhome is referred to as a &Wohnmobil&. In France, a motorhome is called &camping-car&. In Italy, the term &Camper& is used to mean motorhome. &Auto Caravano& or &Auto-Caravano& is used in Spain and Portugal. In Sweden, the term &Husbil& means motorhome. 雅口备战 Describe a foreign food you want to try: 先来看原题:http://photo..cn/photo/5f37429bta#pic Spaghetti Spaghetti is a long, thin, cylindrical pasta of Italian origin. A variety of pasta dishes are based on it, from spaghetti with cheese and pepper or garlic and oil to a spaghetti with tomato, meat, and other sauces. Spaghetti is made of semolina or flour and water. Spaghetti is the plural form of the Italian word spaghetto, which is a diminutive of spago, meaning &thin string& or &twine&. The word spaghetti can be literally translated(上过我课的同学们还记得这个吧) as &little lines.&
Spaghetti is cooked by boiling the pasta in water and adding either salt or olive oil. Spaghetti is frequently served with tomato sauce, which may contain various herbs (especially oregano, and basil), olive oil, meat, or vegetables. The manner of eating spaghetti varies according to local customs, but it is traditionally eaten by twisting the spaghetti around a fork. Eating spaghetti with a fork and a spoon is considered perfectly polite in parts of the United States, although this method is disparaged(蔑视) by some. In East Asia, many people use chopsticks as a form of eating rather than forks, as chopsticks are customary in most East Asian countries. Jack Hut Fresh Drink This isn't exactly a restaurant, but I think it's worth talking for a couple of reasons - one being that it's the first of its kind that I've seen in Tianjin, and two, I think it's something that a lot of people will enjoy for convenience's sake .. okay, three reasons - three - I think they're gonna get some really good business..
It was just opened literally yesterday. Anyway, it's just a little window-vendor shop on the side of the street on Weijin Lu - East side of the road, just one block south of KFC and Scarlet's, right beside the guy who sells chestnuts(栗子). They sell coffee and bubble tea(珍珠奶茶), and maybe some other things.. I wouldn't call myself a coffee expert, but I tried their coffee and it wasn't bad... only 4 yuan for a small one which was larger than most 20 yuan cups in any starbucks or UBC's .. .. and their bubble tea, same size, 3 yuan, also pretty good. That area is a main street with lots of college students who walk around and probably don't want to spend a lot of money on coffee or bubble tea, but still enjoy drinking it, and I'm sure they're going to get good business, maybe even more so in the winter months when having a hot drink in your hands has the extra bonus of providing warmth when you're walking down the cold street. And a lot of you guys might enjoy it too maybe just for the sake of convenience, speed, etc. when you're out in that area and want a coffee - if the coffee's any good - try it yourself and see what you think. i'm a poor judge.
