as的詳細講解：
as 常做關係代詞，如such children as love their books中的as是love的主語。such books as are loved by children中的as是are loved的主語，所以要分析清楚句子結構，不可以隨便刪除謂語動詞，如上句中的are。當as指代主句所講述的內容時，也做關係代詞。值得注意的是，as在作關係代詞時，極易被誤認為是連接詞而加用it。
As is announced in today's papers, all the schools will reopen on 1 September.句中的as指學校將在9月1日重開這件事。

as much/many ...中as用來談論數量。另外as much/many可作為代詞，后不接名詞。同時，as much ...可作為副詞。

as ... as ...指「兩個人或物在某方面一樣」，既可以用在肯定句里，也可以用在否定句中，而so ... as ...只能用在否定句里。「as ... as ...」有時含有第二個as后的主語有著高程度的那形容詞（或副詞）所指的特點，如上述例句中有暗指「她很老」。用isn't，wasn't，don't和can't等時，多習慣與as搭配，而不是so，如He isn't as old as she (is)比He isn't so old as she (is)更為普遍。若是句中的形容詞或副詞前用了 quite這個詞時，就習慣不用as，用so。

as在表示「原因」時，語氣要輕於because。一般來說，as引導的從句會在主句前。as引導的從句也可以在主句后，不過必須要確認從句的內容要是對方知道的。注意在表示原因時，不可以把as和so連用，兩者只能存在一個。
不過as ... so ...的表達方式是可以的，但指「正像……，……」。
You need not go with me, as you are busy.可以說，因對方知道自己忙。
I cannot go with you, as I am busy.應該避免使用，應對方不一定知道我很忙。

I read French, German, as well as English.這個句子是不可以的，應用and來連接。

adv.(副詞)
as用作副詞時主要用來表示比較,意思是「像…一樣；如同」。可以單獨使用，但更多的是用在as...as結構中，其中第一個as是副詞，其後可接形容詞或副詞,也可接其他成分，as前可有狀語。第二個as可以是介詞,也可以是連詞。as用作副詞時還可以指事物以同樣的方式發生,意思是「和…一樣」。
as...as結構多用於肯定式，偶爾也可用於否定式。表示同樣意思的否定式多用so...as。as...as結構用於否定句時多用於口語，側重「像…一樣」；so...as結構則多用於書面語，側重「像…那樣」。
as...as結構表示的是同級比較，第一個as后的形容詞或副詞不可用比較級，必須用原級，比較的對象亦須屬同類。
as...as結構表示數量或程度時，可用於「as much+(不可數名詞+) as」或「as many+(可數名詞複數+) as」結構。
修飾as...as結構的常見詞語有nearly,almost,just,exactly,half,quite,表示倍數或次數的形容詞，「數詞+times」等。這些修飾語都放在as...as結構之前。
使用as...as結構時，若第一個as后的名詞是單數可數名詞並有形容詞修飾，則應使用「as+ adj.+ a/an+ n. 」結構，即不定冠詞應位於形容詞和名詞之間。第二個as後面的名詞或代詞的格不同，意思也不同。

as作「以…的身份,以…資格,作為，以…角色」解時常與動詞act,employ,function,serve,speak,work或形容詞eminent,distinguished,famous,known,recognized,renowned等連用。
as比較常用於as...as和the same...as兩個句型。
conj.(連詞)
as用作連詞時,可以用來表示時間,譯為「正當…的時候;隨著…;邊…邊…」,引導時間狀語從句。主句可以是主動句,也可以是被動句。當兩個主語的動作是同時發生的時候,主句和從句的謂語動詞都可以用進行時態或一般式,無論動作長短;當兩件事發生的時間間隔很短,甚至沒有時間間隔時,主句和從句均用一般過去時;當主句的動作發生在從句的動作發生的過程中的時候,主句和從句可以都用一般過去時,也可以在從句中用進行時態。當表示兩個動作的完成時間恰好一致時,as連接的主、從句也都可用過去完成時。
as還可表示原因,作「因為,既然」解，引導原因狀語從句，表示不說自明的原因或理由，語氣較輕，是附帶提及，不加強調。as引導的從句可放在主句之前(表示原因不明顯),也可放在主句之後(表示原因明顯)。
as可表示讓步,作「儘管」解,引導讓步狀語從句。當主句的謂語動詞是be或其他系詞的限定形式時,常用於「名詞〔形容詞,過去分詞〕+as+主語+be〔其他系詞〕」的限定形式（名詞位於句首時一律不用冠詞）;當主句的謂語動詞是行為動詞時,常用「副詞+as+主語+行為動詞(+其他附加成分)」的形式。有時也把動詞放在從句句首，尤其是有may,might,will,would等情態動詞時。注意當主語是名詞時常用倒裝語序，主語是代詞時則不用倒裝語序，主語位於謂語之前。
as可以引導一個比較關係的狀語從句,意思是「像…一樣」;為了加強比較的意味,主句中常加副詞as（用於肯定句）或so(用於否定句)。此時as可用於「as...as...can〔could〕 be」結構，用來強調形容詞的含義，一般可譯為「到了…的程度」「極其」。
as可以引導方式狀語從句,意思是「依照,按照」。
as引導比較或方式狀語從句時，從句一般採用正常語序，但在正式語體里，也採用倒裝語序，但不是強制性的。
as還可用於插入語，可置於句首、句中或句末，並常有逗號與句子的其他成分分開。

下面各組中句子的意思不同:

這兩個詞均可作「作為；當作；用作」解,一般情況下可以互換。但as表示資格，而for表示用途。例如：
She was respected as a teacher.
作為一名教師，她受到尊敬。
She won't do for a teacher.
她做教師不行。
另外，在regard,think of,treat等動詞之後一般用as,不用for。
這兩個詞的區別是：
1.在作「如」「像」解時，as可用作連詞，引出方式狀語從句；而在正式英語中like不能這樣用，只能用作介詞。例如：
請盡量按我這樣寫。
Please try to write as I do.
Please try to write like me.
作為學生，應試時須嚴格按照上述規定作答，但實際上在非正式的英語里，like用作連詞還是很常見的。例如：
I can't sing like I used to.我不能像以前那樣唱歌了。
2.as和like都可用作介詞，但意義不同。as用於人時強調其身份、職業、地位、角色等,指物時側重其作用、功能等;like則強調人或事物的外貌特徵和性格特徵的相像,或行為方式的相同。簡言之，as表示一種事實，即「是」;而like則表示一種比喻，即「像」。例如：
She spoke as a lawyer.
她作為律師發言。
She spoke like a lawyer.
她講話很像是律師。
3.表示動作方式一般用like。例如：
他吃起東西來像頭野獸。
［誤］ He ate as a beast.
［正］ He ate like a beast.
4.表語片語一般由like引導,而不用as引導。
conj.(連詞)
as a matter of fact, as good as, as it is
這三個短語都有「實際上，事實上」的意思，其區別是：
as a matter of fact含有對比之意,說的是與已知的或已說過的內容不同的內容；as good as沒有對比的意味，意思是「實質上差不多等於」；as it is則用於指出即將說的是一個事實。例如：
Mike said he didn't tell a lie.As a matter of fact, he did.邁克說他從沒有說過謊。事實上,他說過。
He as good as refused.他實際上等於拒絕了。
We had hoped to finish today,but as it is we probably won't finish until tomorrow.我們原本希望今天能做完它，但實際情況是我們或許要等到明天才能做完。
as, because, for, since
這四個詞都可以作連詞引導一個表示原因的狀語從句。其區別是：
1.because是從屬連詞,引導的原因狀語從句指的是自然、直接的原因,主句表示必然的因果關係,而原因構成句子的主要部分,是句子的重點。另外,because引導的從句多放在句末,但有時也可放在句首,這種情況往往是為了強調。
2.如果原因很明顯或已為人們所知,或不如句子的其餘部分重要,就用as或since,since比as更正式一些,這兩個詞都為從屬連詞,常譯為「由於,既然」,語氣比because輕。as和since引導的句子多放在整個句子的開頭,偶爾它們引導的(特別是since引導的)句子也可以放在後面。since作為理由有「不好」或「勉強」的含意;而as只將既成事實作為理由,並不含有「不好」或「勉強」的意味。
3.for是並列連詞,引導的是並列從句,表示原因的語氣很弱,一般是對結果作推斷性的補充說明或解釋,不表示直接原因。for較正式,很少用於口語,一般用於書面語,前面一般多用逗號。
as it is/was, as it were
as it is/was是個短語，意思是「實際上」「事實上」「照目前情況來看」，用於把可能的情景與實際發生的情況進行對比；而as it were的意思則是「可以說是」「似乎是」「彷彿」，表示所說的話聽起來不那麼肯定。
as, though
這兩個詞用作從屬連詞引導讓步狀語從句時，都可採用倒裝語序。其區別在於：as採用這種倒裝語序是強制性的，而though則是非強制性的。此外，as引導的這種倒裝語序還可表示原因，而though則無此功能。
as, when, while
這三個詞都可作連詞引導一個表示時間的狀語從句。as引導的從句作「當…時」或「和…同時」解,從句中的動作與主句中的動作同時發生或同時進行,一般持續時間不長;when引導的從句作「當…時」或「每逢…」解,從句中的動作既可以和主句中的動作同時發生,也可以在主句的動作之前或之後發生;while引導的從句作「當…時」或「在…期間」解,它強調從句中的動作與主句中的動作同時發生,但持續時間一般較長或主句的動作在從句的動作過程中發生。while與as和when的最大區別在於有時含有「趁著…情況的存在趕緊做某事,否則來不及了」的意味。
as well, also, besides, either, moreover, too
這組詞(組)都有「也,此外,還有」的意思。其區別是：
also一般用於肯定句,有強調意味,位於主謂語之間,即實義動詞之前,助動詞之後; too只用於肯定句中,一般位於句末,比also更口語化; either一般只用於否定句,多位於句末; as well和too一樣多用於口語,放在句末; besides與moreover詞義基本相同,但moreover後面所敘述的,通常比前面所敘述更為重要或更深入一步,在詞序方面, moreover往往用於句首,另外, moreover是較為正式的用語。例如:
He also asked to go.他也要去。
I can also do it.我也能幹那個活。
English is not easy, and French is not easy either.英語不容易,法語也不容易。
He is a teacher, and a writer as well.他是個教師,也是個作家。
I don' besides, they're too expensive.那雙鞋我不喜歡,而且也太貴。
I don' moreover, the ice is too thin.我不想去溜冰,再說冰層也太薄。
The Opposition have consistently accused the Government of corruption.Moreover, they have named names.反對黨一直在指責政府腐敗,而且是指名道姓的。
下面兩個句子的意思不同:
We have a third as many students in our class as we had last term.
我們班的學生是上學期的三分之一。
We have a third as many students again in our class as we had last term.
我們班的學生比上學期多了三分之一。
這些連詞均含有「因為」之意。
:as從屬連詞，語意較because, since弱，著重在主句，所表示的原因或理由是「附帶的」。
:because從屬連詞，語意強，著重直接的原因或理由，所引出的從句是全句的重心，用以回答why提出的問題。
:for並列連詞，語氣較弱，所引出的句子一般放在後面，表示附帶說明的理由或推斷理由。
:since語意比because弱，但比as強，一般用於表示「由於大家已知的事實」。
這兩個詞均有「像」之意。

even though
這些連詞均可表示「雖然，儘管」之意。
:though和although在意義上幾乎毫無區別，但在習慣用法上這兩個詞仍有以下一些差異：1.though可引出倒裝語序的讓步狀語從句，although 則不能。2.though可與even連用，although則不能；在as though結構中，只用though，不能用although。3.though可以置於從句末，而although則不能。4.引出省略句時，通常用though。
:although與though在意義上相似，但文體上是比較正式用詞，語氣比though強。
:as引出讓步狀語從句只用於倒裝語序結構中，語氣強於上述兩個連詞。
:even though（＝even if），意為「即使」，引導讓步狀語從句。though也引導讓步狀語從句，意為「雖然」；even though有退一步設想的意味，與though不同。though引導的句子所說的是事實，even though引導的句子所說的則不一定是事實。例如：
即使他知道這個秘密，他也不肯說出來。
He will not tell the secret even though（even if）he knows it．
他雖然知道這個秘密，但他不會說出來。
He will not tell the secret though he knows it．
這些連詞均可表示「當……時」引出時間從句。
:when所引導的從句，其謂語動詞既可是持續動詞，也可是短暫動詞；謂語動詞動作發生的時間可以與主句謂語動詞的動作是同時，或之前、之後。
:while句中的謂語動詞應為持續動詞，不用短暫動詞，謂語動作發生的時間通常與主句謂語動詞動作發生時間是同時。
:as側重指從句與主句的動作同時進行，謂語動詞可以是持續性的，可以是短暫性動詞。

她像她母親那樣慈善。

析 介詞like和副詞equally同as的詞意相同，不能同時出現在一個句子中。
你必須儘快離開此地。
誤 You must get out of this place as immediately as possible.
正 You must get out of this place as soon as possible.
析 as...as possible結構中的形容詞或副詞應是可比較的，immediately沒有比較級和最高級形式，故不可用於這個結構中。
錯句舉例與錯句分析
錯句：As the weather was bad, so I didn't go.
糾正：As the weather was bad, I didn't go.
翻譯：因為天氣很糟糕，所以我沒有去。
分析：as是從屬連接詞，且已包含「因為……所以……」的意思，不可與so連用。
